"I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection.  Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business."

Michael J. Fox

Blended Families

So you're a stepfamily now. Have you discovered that your family doesn't much resemble the Brady Bunch?  If so, you're not alone.

Combining two families into one is a real challenge!  But the payoffs of persevering can be great.  And the good news is that you don't have to reinvent the wheel here.  You can draw upon the experience, wisdom and support of other people that have walked, or are now walking, the same road you are on.

The PREPARE
and ENRICH Inventories

By completing the PREPARE Inventory, couples learn more about their strengths as a couple and about areas of growth.   For couples who are marrying and one or both of them have children from a previous relationship, the PREPARE-MC inventory is available. Click here for more information.

Parenting Children of Divorce This four-hour program shows parents how to help their children through the process of parental separation and/or divorce. This program is appropriate for parents, grandparents and stepparents concerned about a child whose parents are separated or divorced.

The program is designed to increase awareness of children's reactions to their parents’ separation or divorce and provide possible strategies to lessen the impact on families. Reactions of children of all ages, infant through young adult, will be discussed.

Each workshop is presented by one mental health professional and one attorney. Click here to view the workshop flyer and schedule.
