| "I love being married. It's so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life."

"In every marriage more than a week old, there are grounds for divorce. The trick is to find, and continue to find, grounds for marriage."

Newly Married |
Congratulations on your recent wedding!
You may have already realized that being married isn't unending bliss. In fact, more than half of newly married couples express shock and surprise at the amount of conflict they experience with their new spouses within the first six months.
So, if the luster has come off the rose in your marriage, don't be alarmed; it's only natural. Bringing together two people with separate histories and expectations can be difficult. Finding support now can give you the foundation and the support you need to begin the process of building a marriage that will last forever.
Some strategies that can create a firm foundation for your marriage:
- Identify married couples who you can turn to for support. You can participate in a formal marriage mentoring program or simply seek out support from couples who have discovered effective strategies for making marriage work
- Participate in a course or workshop that teaches effective communication and conflict resolution skills. The Guilford County Marriage Resource Center and a variety of other community groups offer programs across the county. Click here to see the complete calendar of scheduled events. - Complete a marriage inventory such as "ENRICH" that will highlight the strength and growth areas of your relationship.
